We opened for business on January 3, 1994. Located in our home, we provided Blooming Prairie Warehouse catalogs, and our customers ordered what they needed at a discount. We even set up a little store on our front porch. We rode our bikes all around town to deliver catalogs. Lots of new and old friends came to our little porch to buy natural and organic foods. |
Our business grew and in two years we moved to our first business location, the blue building on North 3rd Street. Many more loyal customers began to shop at our new store and order from our buying service. In May of 1998, we moved our store to a larger building on Washington Avenue where we remained for six years. In the Spring 2004, we moved to 326 5th Street and remained there for six years.
We are now located at 328 Main Street, Suite 105 in the Main Street Cultural District in downtown Ames! Here, we continue to carry the most popular items in our store store, and our buying service is still going strong. We order products from three major distributors and dozens of others small ones, including many Iowa companies.
In 2005, we updated our web site www.johnsnaturalfoods.com. Products, ingredients, specials, health information, recipes, the latest news, and much more may now be viewed at our web site!
